Mai Po Nature Reserve
Situated to the north of Fairview Park Town Centre is Mai Po Nature Reserve, which is the largest wetland in Hong Kong. It houses many types of natural habitats, such as fish ponds, gei wai, intertidal mudflats, mangroves, reedbed and freshwater ponds. It is the cradle for a wide array of local wildlife species. In the autumn and winter, it also attracts flocks of birds from the north which winter here in Hong Kong, including some species which are endangered worldwide. Therefore, you can often watch these migratory birds at a close distance here at this nature reserve.
